Culturally Informed Practice Skills

PeaceChord's Culturally Informed Practice Skills Training examines how culture, language, religion, immigration experience, family structure, and community norms can affect communication, negotiation, decision-making, and expectations of the conflict resolution process.

Through practical instruction, case examples, and experiential exercises, participants examine issues that arise in Mediation, Collaborative Practice, and other facilitated conflict resolution settings.

Designed for new and experienced professionals alike, the training builds skills for navigating difference with greater competence, clarity, and intentionality.

A PeaceChord Certificate is available upon successful completion.

Culturally Informed Process Design

Conflict resolution almost never unfolds within a cultural vacuum. PeaceChord's Culturally Informed Skills Trainings  address culturally responsive process design; approaches to authority, family roles, and decision-making; religious and community influences; language access and the effective use of interpreters; and ethical questions.

Through practical frameworks, discussion, and experiential exercises, participants develop skills for identifying cultural dynamics that may otherwise go unrecognized, asking more effective and respectful questions, adapting processes without compromising neutrality or professional responsibility, and creating environments in which participants can engage meaningfully and authentically.

The goal is not to become an expert in every culture. It is to become a more perceptive, adaptable, and culturally responsive conflict resolution professional better equipped to understand the people in the room and design processes that allow them to participate fully.

A PeaceChord Certificate is available upon successful completion.
