Who We Are At PeaceChord

PeaceChord is a professional training, consulting, and mentorship service focused on helping people and organizations navigate conflict, strengthen collaboration, and build more connected communities.

PeaceChord trains mediators, attorneys, interdisciplinary professionals, organizational leaders, and communities to handle difficult conversations with greater skill particularly when emotions are high, perspectives diverge, relationships matter, and easy answers are unavailable.

Founded by Lara Traum, PeaceChord grew from years of work in mediation, collaborative practice, legal education, and conflict resolution. Across those settings, the same lesson emerges again and again: knowing a process is not the same as knowing how to navigate the people within it. Effective conflict work requires more than frameworks and techniques. It requires careful listening, sound judgment, thoughtful communication, an understanding of human dynamics, and the ability to create movement without forcing agreement.

PeaceChord brings those skills into practice through professional trainings, workshops, consulting, and facilitated conversations. Our programs combine substantive learning with experiential practice, giving participants the opportunity not simply to learn about conflict resolution, but to become more capable and thoughtful practitioners of it.

At its core, PeaceChord is about strengthening how professionals and organizations respond to conflict  with better tools, thoughtful discernment, and greater capacity to work through complexity.

Meet Lara Traum

...Before I became a mediator and educator, I was a musician and conductor. I spent years teaching people how to listen to one another so that individual voices could become something larger, richer, and more meaningful together. That same principle lives at the heart of PeaceChord...

Lara Traum, the founder of PeaceChord, is a seasoned mediator, attorney, author, and educator with extensive experience in conflict prevention mediation, collaborative law practice, facilitation, and conflict resolution. Lara is a partner at Roytberg Traum Law and Mediation P.C., where her work spans practice areas including divorce, family law, estate planning, and international disputes.

Lara is an adjunct professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, past president of the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation, and Director of Curriculum for the Mediators Beyond Borders International Teen Peace Camp. Lara additionally serves as an officer on the Board of the Zamir Choral Foundation and is a director on the Board of COJECO (Council of Jewish Emigre Community Organizations).
